Welcome to the GSBYRA Website
Great South Bay Yacht Racing Association, a local sailing organization located on the south shore of Long Island, NY, welcomes sailors of all ages and abilities to participate in sailing activities! Together the member clubs of GSBYRA coordinate a schedule that includes weekend Invitational racing in one-design classes and PHRF boats, Friday Junior class racing, Race Week, and GSBYRA Championships. The Association offers 2 Flying Scots to Full Member clubs for charter in GSBYRA triple-handed championships that lead to US SAILING national Championships, and provides 12 suits of Flying Scot sails used only for those championships.
Organized in 1906 GSBYRA is a not-for-profit, sailing organization where fellow sailors race, share and explore educational experiences building boats, promote on the water safety, and enjoy the camaraderie of maritime heritage at social events. Donations to GSBYRA are tax deductible and help GSBYRA maintain and award 31 perpetual trophies displayed at the Long Island Maritime Museum, publish an annual yearbook in which the history of those trophies is recorded, and award annual sailing grants to recognize sailors who pursue post secondary education at two or four year colleges or vocational schools!
GSBYRA is run by volunteers whose time and expertise is dedicated to the organization. The elected officers and club delegates who direct GSBYRA invite you to improve your sailing or race management skills, and to voice your opinion by joining and supporting GSBYRA! |
